Account security

Two-factor authentication

Seren asks for a second step when you sign in: your password, then a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone or computer.

If your password were compromised, the extra code still protects the account. Choose your device below for the supported apps.

Questions

Do I have to use an authenticator app?

Yes. Seren uses this step to protect your account, the people you support, and the service record.

I already have an authenticator app. Can I use that?

Yes. Most authenticator apps that generate a six-digit time-based code will work. We can only support Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy.

How long do I have to set this up?

Seren lets you skip setup for a limited number of sign-ins. After that, you will need an authenticator code to continue.

I do not have an Android or iOS phone. What do I do?

Use Authy on Windows or Mac, using the instructions above.

I have changed or lost my phone. How do I sign in?

If you still have the secret key shown when you first set this up, enter that key in a new authenticator app. If you do not have the key, contact your supervisor or use the contact form on this site.
